The only downside to turn-key reporting is that it is not customizable. If the standard reports, or one of the many pivots, don't answer the question you are asking then you're out of luck.

Role Hierarchy configuration is based on Salesforce.com data and that must be up to date for the systems to function properly.
Forecasting continues to be a difficult task requiring a multi-disciplinary approach.

I am not a fan of setting up dashboards and the user friendliness of it. I think it's not very easy to understand, getting graphs/reports to show the way you want them on dashboards could be more streamlined and easy to use.
